Founding Partner Spotlight: Wageningen University & Research (WUR)

As one of SALTA’s founding partners, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) brings world-leading expertise on food, environment, and climate to the network. We collaborate with Dr. Ayodeji Deolu-Ajayi and Dr. Jan Verhagen. They contribute scientific knowledge on crop stress, soil management, and agricultural resilience.

Why is WUR involved in SALTA?

WUR’s mission is to explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life. Research on crop stress, soil chemistry, and the soil biome provides crucial insights into how salinization impacts food production. Within SALTA, WUR strengthens collaboration across sectors, linking research with farmers, water authorities, and policymakers.

By working together, WUR and SALTA aim to develop long-term strategies for resilient agriculture in the Dutch coastal regions and beyond.
